Frequently Asked Billing and Payment Questions

General Billing Questions

Q.  When does MMG Insurance Company mail me my bill?

A.  We mail insurance bills at least 21 days prior to their due date.

Q.  What are the various options for paying my bill?

A.  MMG Insurance Company’s flexible billing plan allows you to choose the payment options that work best for you. They include a variety of Direct Billed Options, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), Mortgagee Billed (Escrow), Payroll Deduction (EZ-PAY$), and Agency Billed. Click here for a more detailed explanation of MMG’s billing options.

Q.  I want to change my payment plan on renewal, how soon should I notify my agent or MMG Insurance Company.

A.  Because we typically renew your policy 30 days in advance of the policy expiration please notify MMG Insurance Company or your agent 45 days prior to your renewal to ensure the change in payment plan is made.

Q.  What happens if I mail my payment after the due date?

A.  If your payment is received after the due date but prior to the final cancellation date we will accept the payment. Your account will be billed a $10 reinstatement fee to cover the cost involved with reinstating your policy(ies).

Q.  What should I do if the final cancellation date has arrived and I have not paid my payment?

A.  The best advice is to mail your payment prior to the cancellation date. If your payment is received after the final cancellation date, your payment will not be accepted and will be returned to you without reinstating coverage. We recommend you contact your local Independent Insurance Agent as soon as possible if your payment was not mailed prior to the final cancellation date.

Q.  Where should I mail my payment.

A.  Each bill is provided with a self-addressed envelope to enclose payment. Each MMG bill also provides our mailing address in the upper right corner. Mail payments to:

MMG Insurance Company
PO BOX 729
Presque Isle, ME 04769-0729

Q.  What happens if I only make a partial payment?

A.  If you fail to pay the minimum amount due you will receive a cancellation notice. Your due date will not be extended by the application of a partial payment. Once we have received and accepted the full amount due, you will be sent a reinstatement notice. If you are experiencing financial hardship contact your local Independent Insurance Agent for possible solutions.

Q.  If I make a change to my policy(ies) in the middle of a billing cycle, should I pay the bill that I receive that month?

A.  Yes. Even if you have recently made a change to your policy, you need to pay at least the minimum amount due on the most recent bill you have received. Any adjustments to your account, either additional bill charges or credits, will be reflected in subsequent bills.

The "Freedom Plan" (EFT) Questions

Q.  Can my payment be automatically deducted from my checking account?

A.Yes. With MMG′s ″Freedom Plan″, your payments can be automatically deducted from your checking account or savings account each month on the date that you select at enrollment. Contact your local Independent Insurance Agent and ask about MMG′s ″Freedom Plan″. If you currently have an MMG policy in our direct bill program, EFT can be selected during the current term or at the next renewal of your policy. Just print a copy of the Authorization Agreement. Mail the completed form and a VOIDED check (if you are using a checking account) to: MMG Insurance Company, PO Box 729, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Please mail the request so that it is received at least 45 days prior to your policy expiration.

Q.  Can I change my EFT withdrawal date?

A.  We allow you to choose between two (2) withdrawal dates per month to best service your needs, the 5th or the 20th. We limit these two dates to provide efficiencies for our own processing.

Q.  Can I apply my EFT payment to a specific policy when I have more than one policy in this program?

A.  This program can only facilitate an "account" payment schedule. Therefore, your EFT withdrawal will apply proportionately to all policies in your MMG Insurance Company Portfolio.

Q.  Under the "Freedom Plan", what happens to my insurance if there are insufficient funds in my checking or savings account?

A.  We will make two (2) attempts to withdraw funds from your account, two (2) days apart. If on the second try there are still insufficient funds, you will receive a letter of cancellation and you will be billed for the minimum amount due to reactivate your insurance. As a result, your EFT program will terminate and you will then be set up on a quarterly direct billed basis.

Q.  Under the "Freedom Plan", what happens when I make changes to my policy(ies)?

A.  As soon as we endorse the changes you make to your policy(ies), we will adjust our billing records accordingly . We will send you a revised withdrawal schedule indicating the change and a new payment schedule for the remaining months of your policy(ies).

Q.  What if I am currently having my insurance payments withdrawn electronically under the "Freedom Plan" and I want to add another policy to my MMG Portfolio?

A.  If you have an MMG Portfolio and wish to add another policy such as a boat or snowmobile, we will issue a new policy and it will renew with the same date as your existing polices. A revised statement reflecting the new policy and a new schedule of monthly withdrawals will be forwarded to you.

Q.  If this program does not satisfy my needs, can I change to direct bill?

A.  Absolutely, the "Freedom Plan" is just a payment option and it may not provide what you are looking for. Simply send us a request in writing to discontinue this program and we will convert it to direct bill. You should also notify your bank of your request to terminate EFT.

Q.  What sort of notification of withdrawals am I provided with under MMG's "Freedom Plan" (EFT)?

A.

  1. A Withdrawal Notification will be mailed confirming the amount and date of future withdrawals.
  2. A change to your policy during the annual term will generate another notice informing you of the change in your monthly withdrawal.
  3. Upon renewal, updated policy(ies) and future withdrawal information will be automatically provided for you.
